Thursday, Sept. 19, 6pm: Palm Beach Area Literary Society. Our innovative Zoom book group is holding our interest for a broad selection of books each month. And we continue to circle back to previous selections that merit further delving. The Demon of Unrest by Eric Larson proved to be a powerfully close examination of the events leading up to the Civil War and its people and times, evoking the heartbreak of events on each faction. Disclosureby Michael Crichton had a daunting level of detail about the corporation and the corporate culture, but the plot was a real table-turner. For September, we proposed a couple of off-beat topics. The Bees, by Laline Paull, details the course of life in a hive, in general but also as a poetic, sensual story that follows the life of Flora, a sanitationworker bee; it includes the role of the dances that provide location codes for new food sources. Also, The Ants,by Edward O. Wilson and Bert Holldobler, is an examination of how antslive, in thorough detail. A member new to our group has proposed 12 Months to Live,by James Patterson and Mike Lupika, that centers around a hotshot attorney on a case involving the mob while she is battling cancer. The Ministry of Time, by Kaliane Bradley, looks at a government ministry seeking time travelers from across history to establish the fabric of space-time. And, we have a Scott Turow murder mystery, Identical, that combines twins, Greeks, and murder. Meeting ID: 858 0295 0276, Passcode: happy (Zoom link). RSVP on Meetup or to Amy Shaughnessy at aesdth@yahoo.com or at 561-352-9245.

Tuesday, Sept. 24, 5:30pm: Moveable Feast in Palm Beach Gardens at Limoncello, 2000 PGA Blvd. Suite 3110, Palm Beach Gardens. It's time for the Summer specials, including at the sister restaurant to Barcello, where we went in July. It's the same good deal - 50 % off the regular prices for main course entrees ordered between 5:00 and 6:00 (no specials or splitting). Make sure you arrive in time to order before 6:00! The trattoria, located in City Centre, PGA Blvd., serves handmade pastas and other classic entrees, as well as limoncello. Please RSVP on Meetup or to Amy Shaughnessy at aesdth@yahoo.com or at 561-352-9245.
