Tuesday, August 6, 5:30pm: Moveable Feast in Boynton Beach at Tavolo Wine Bar and Tuscan Grille, 8260 Jog Rd., Boynton Beach. Tavolo is in Aberdeen Plaza at Jog Road. It's all you expect from a traditional family-style Italian restaurant but at an elevated level, with such specialties as penne "cardinale" with chicken in a vodka cream sauce, as well as osso bucco, flat-iron steak frites, and wagon wheel rigatoni Bolognese. They also serve pizza and Italian grinders. Please RSVP on Meetup or to Amy Shaughnessy at aesdth@yahoo.com or at 561-352-9245. |

Sunday, August 11, 5:30pm: Second Sunday Dinner at the newest location of Sushi Yama Asian Bistro at the southeast corner of Woolbright and Military Trail, 11300 S. Military Trail, Boynton Beach, 561-810-4729 (https://www.sushiyamaonline.com/ ). The Best Japanese Restaurant in town. The sushi on the website almost jumps off the page into your mouth! I recently enjoyed Shrimp Pad Thai that was the best I've ever eaten. Typical sushi but other noodle dishes, tofu, rice, soups, salads, etc. RSVP to Elissa (elissa12@bellsouth.net) or on Meetup by noon on August 10. |

Thursday, August 15, 6pm: Palm Beach Area Literary Society. The aim of this innovative book group is a forum for discussion on a wide range of books at each Zoom meeting. The July discussion included Eruption, by James Patterson and Michael Crichton, some of Alice Munro's short stories, and a teaser for On Call, by Anthony Fauci, MD (of which more at this month's Zoom meeting). The proposals for August were Bear: A Novel, by Julia Phillips, set in the San Juan Islands in Washington State; The Demon of Unrest: A Saga of Hubris, Heartbreak, and Heroism at the Dawn of the Civil War, by Erik Larson (each proposed by Elissa); and Disclosure, by Michael Crichton (proposed by Amy). There will also probably be further discussion of the short stories of Alice Munro. 858 0295 0276, Passcode: happy (Zoom link). RSVP on Meetup or to Amy Shaughnessy at aesdth@yahoo.com or at 561-352-9245. |

Wednesday, August 21, 5:00pm: Happy Hour in Palm Beach Gardens at Carmine's Ocean Grill and Sushi Bar, 2401 PGA Blvd Ste 160, Palm Beach Gardens. This is a great restaurant complex on the water, with a bar section that has high-top tables and features such Happy Hour standbys as Caesar salad, crostini, and chips and salsa for $6-7, though most selections are $8 (calamari, fried mozzarella, Margherita flatbread, stuffed mushrooms, etc.). The bar fills up , but you can get there a bit ahead of the crowd at 4:30 or so, to get a jump on the best tables. And of course, stay later for dinner. Please RSVP on Meetup or to Amy Shaughnessy at aesdth@yahoo.com or at 561-352-9245. |

There's patio seating as well as a kids' menu, and mimosas and other cocktails. The full menu is available both mornings and early afternoons - pancakes, waffles, biscuits and gravy, as well as eggs any style.
