Wednesday, Oct. 4, noon: Lunch Bunch in West Palm Beach at The Madre's Mexican Fresh, 1741 Palm Beach Lakes Blvd Suite F05, W. Palm Beach. Not a restaurant but a good-sized vendor in the Tanger (formerly Palm Beach Outlets) Mall food court, with fresh, healthy choices - bowls, tacos, salads, burritos, plus churros and other desserts. I'll grab a table in (I hope) an easily visible area (I'll have my cellphone with me). Plenty of places around to shop before or after lunch, all in the midst of the huge mall parking lot. I prefer to get to the food court by entering the mall from Congress Ave. Please RSVP on Meetup or to Amy Shaughnessy at aesdth@yahoo.com or 561-352-9245. |

Sunday, Oct. 8, 5:30pm: Second Sunday Dinner at The Station House, 233 W. Lantana Road, Lantana, 561-801-5000 (https://www.thestationhouse.com/contact/#welcome). The Station House is closed right now (August), but will be reopening in September, newly renovated. It is the location of the old Lantana depot and is one of the few establishments in Florida that has authentic Maine lobsters. Hope they still have them after the remodel! RSVP on Meetup or elissa12@bellsouth.net or 561-703-9898 by October 7 at noon. |

Friday, Oct. 13, 5:30 pm: Movable Feast in North Palm Beach at Barcello, 11603 US 1, North Palm Beach. Barcello has a "Summer Taste" special: 50% off entrees from 5:00 to 6:00. That's regular main course items only, no specials or splitting, and orders must be placed before 6:00. We had dinner here in July and enjoyed it so much that we'll do it again. Barcello's menus feature American fusions of classic coastal cuisine with global dishes, ingredients, and techniques. Specialties include Chicken Paillard, Grouper with sweet potato crust, and Roast Duck. In addition to a wide selection of wines, they also have a full bar. RSVP on Meetup or to Amy Shaughnessy at aesdth@yahoo.com or 561-352-9245. |

Thursday, Oct. 19, 6:00pm: Virtual Happy Hour to Discuss Books. Given four choices, we chose all four for October: "How Minds Change: The Surprising Science of Belief, Opinion, and Persuasion", by David McRaney (first book: "You Are Not So Smart"); "Thinking Fast and Slow", by Daniel Kahneman (fast, instinctive, and emotional versus slower, more deliberative, and more logical); "The Drop", by David Lehane (author of "Mystic River", "Gone, Baby, Gone" and "Shutter Island"); and "Monsieur Mediocre: One American Learns the High Art of Being Everyday French" by columnist John von Sothen. More information in my column about events. Meeting ID: 858 0295 0276, Passcode: happy (Zoom link). RSVP on Meetup or to Amy Shaughnessy at aesdth@yahoo.com or at 561-352-9245. |
