Sunday, October 5 at 5:30pm Palm Beach Area Mensa Monthly Dinner. Not exactly sure how to pronounce Pho VN, 344 Old Congress Ave., Boynton Beach (561- 509-0831); it serves Vietnamese/Thai-style food (no burgers or fries, sorry!). A Palm Beach Post reporter wrote that their food was the best he or she had eaten in Palm Beach County in quite some time – now that's a great testimonial! Pad Thai, of course, fried calamari, pho veggie soup, homemade peanut sauce, papaya salad, sticky rice with mango, and fried Oreos (?!). RSVP by noon October 4 to elissa12@bellsouth.net OR through the Palm Beach Mensa's MeetUp site. Once reservations are made, seats go to those who RSVP'ed FIRST. |

Saturday, October 11 at 2pm: Magnificent Mensa Scribes Meet at Mark's. Marina Tower of Turnberry Isle Corp, 19500 Turnberry Way, Miami, FL. An invitation from Mark Levy:
My wife, Arlene, and I want to invite you to our home in Aventura on Saturday, October 11th at 2:00 p.m. for a Scribes meeting. Both of Prudy's writing groups are invited, as are significant others. If things go well, we can skip the following Tuesday, which is the Scribes' scheduled meeting at iHOP. You don't have to RSVP and you don't have to take along any food or gifts, but if you'd like to, a few treats would not be refused. Arlene and I are planning on making lasagna for everyone. And brownies. Since our apartment is a hike for most of you, feel free to carpool. We'll leave the details up to you. Our address is shown below. For those of you who don't have a GPS device, here are the directions for travelers north of Miami Dade County: Take I-95 South to the Ives Dairy Road/203rd St. exit. At the end of the ramp, you'll see a traffic light. Turn left (east) at that intersection onto 203rd St. Travel east about 1 1/2 miles to Biscayne Blvd. (Rt. 1) and turn right (south) at that intersection onto Biscayne Blvd. Travel about 3/4 of a mile and turn left (east) immediately after the Aventura Mall and the Chase bank building onto the William Lehman Causeway (Rt. 856). After a short 3/4 mile, take the first exit labeled "Country Club Roads" or "West Country Club Road." Stay on the road and it will make a sharp left –-- basically a wide U-turn under the causeway. Take the first right turn after the U-turn onto East Country Club Drive and then an immediate right at the light onto Yacht Club Way. Go 1 block on Yacht Club Way over a noisy bridge to a STOP sign. This is where the cops hang out, so make a full stop. Turn left onto Turnberry Way. About 1/2 a block down, our condo, called "Marina Tower," is on the left, NOT straight ahead. The Marina Tower sign is (barely) visible in the driveway on the left of Turnberry Way. Enter the driveway and introduce yourself to the guard in the Marina Tower guard shack. A valet will park your car. You can come up through the lobby to the 26th floor. Make a left off the elevator and we're the last apartment at the end of the hall. The whole thing is easier than it sounds. Call if you get lost. This is going to be FUN! |
