Sunday, Feb. 8, 5:30pm: Second Sunday Dinner at Ruocco's, 701 N. Congress Ave., Boynton Beach (561-320-4260; https://ruoccosrestaurantfl.com/). Yes, I know it's Superbowl Sunday, but the Pittsburgh Steelers aren't playing, so I have little interest in watching the game. And I can catch the halftime show another time. Family owned and operated, Ruocco's (Rockos) has the typical Italian menu with some interesting dishes: Pink Panther, Sacchetti, Lumache, Sorrentino, and the favorites Rigatoni, Eggplant Parmigiana, and Snapper Puttanesca. Yum! RSVP to Elissa (elissa12@bellsouth.net) or on Meetup by Saturday, February 7 at noon. |

Thursday, Feb. 19, 6 pm: The (M)any Books Book Club. The reviews of last month's suggestions were mostly positive. "Anxious People" by Fredrik Backman, was appreciated for its entertaining humor. The translation, from Swedish, captured the author's charming, yet bone-dry, Scandinavian wit. A truly recommended read. "The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires," by Grady Hendrix, gets the award for the most accurate and complete title. It was an enjoyable read, but the ending was pretty bloody.... |
