Saturday, Feb. 5, 2:00pm: Late Lunch on the Weekend at The Butcher and The Bar, 510 E Ocean Ave Unit 101, Boynton Beach. Very late brunch-ish lunch at a full-service retail butcher shop, premium bar, and dining venue with a menu that changes daily (check website for the day's menu). Some light munchies, craft sandwiches and burgers, as well as such entrees as steak frites and steak panzanella salad. The location is a little complicated, but it's sort of behind the 500 Building, just off Route 1 and Ocean Ave - a quiet area with covered outdoor seating as well as indoors with the bar. Please RSVP on Meetup or to Amy at 561-964-3283. |

Sunday, Feb. 13, 3:30pm: Machu Picchu and the Golden Empires of Peru at Boca Raton Museum of Art, 501 Plaza Real, Boca Raton. Meet at the Boca Raton Museum of Art for its Machu Picchu and the Golden Empires of Peru exhibit. "Embark on a journey through time and discover a culture that thrived in a mythic world. Explore the world premiere exhibition, Machu Picchu and the Golden Empires of Peru! Behold the marvels of engineering that sheltered a truly spiritual civilization and the ornate riches they once cherished." This exhibit has only another month to run, so now's the time to see it. Meet other Mensans at 3:30 p.m. near the gift shop. RSVP to elissa12@bellsouth.net or on Meetup. Afterward, join us for dinner at the Yard House just a short walk away in Mizner Park. Elissa's note: I recommend that you purchase your tickets in advance. I purchased mine for the 3:15 pm time slot, which is a little flexible. Sunday, Feb. 13, 5:30pm: Second Sunday Dinner at the Yard House in Mizner Park, Boca Raton, 201 Plaza Real, 561-417-6124 (https://www.yardhouse.com/home). Atypical appetizers include Chicken Nachos, Cali Roll Stack, Jumbo Bavarian Pretzel, Wisconsin Fried Cheese Curds, Parmesan Truffle Fires -- and that's just the beginning of an extensive menu. RSVP by noon on Saturday, Feb. 8 to elissa12@bellsouth.net. Or RSVP on Meetup. Before dinner, visit the Boca Raton Museum of Art just a short walk away for its Machu Picchu and the Golden Empires of Peru exhibit. (That's Super Bowl Sunday and the game starts at 6:30; this place is, among other things, a sports bar, so there could be a rowdy football crowd there. Don't know if our seats are within view of a TV.) |

Happy Hour is 5:00-6:00, but stay after for the Sunset special menu if you want to make a night of it. The apps and bar bites include conch fritters, calamari rings, shaka shrimp, and artichoke dip.
