Palm Beach Area Mensa Events

Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 5:15pm: Happy Hour at Pelican Cafe, 612 US-1, Lake Park. Longtime favorite, about a mile south of Northlake Blvd., across from Kelsey Park. Renovated to enhance its New England roots along with its Italian heritage. They offer a very nice early Happy Hour (5:00-6:00) with $7 drinks and bar bites like calamari, bruschetta, and three varieties of flatbreads. Parking lot with space behind the restaurant. RSVP by the night before on MeetUp or to Amy at 561-964-3283.

Friday, Feb. 7 at 7pm: First Friday Dinner at Payathai Asian Bistro, 5879 South Congress Ave., Atlantis (Lantana, NW corner of Lantana Rd. and Congress Ave.). Since this is a Thai restaurant, if you choose, the food can be spicy. **RESERVATIONS**: VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU REPLY: RSVP to Barry at 561-425-5675, barrykaras7314@comcast.net, or through the Meetup.

This location was known and probably still is known by locals as the Lake Worth Casino, but now it's called the Beach Complex. One of several locations in Florida, this beach house is as close to the beach as you can get and serves typical beach fare. You might want to wear your flip-flops. RSVP by Sat. noon to elissa12@bellsouth.net or on MeetUp.

[Palm Beach]

Tuesday, Feb. 11 at noon: Lunch Bunch at Old Metal Classics Cafè & More, 431 Northwood Rd, West Palm Beach. Also a bakery case with tarts, cake and Key lime pie. Parking on the street. RSVP by the night before on MeetUp or to Amy at 561-964-3283.

Monday, Feb. 17 at 5:45pm: Moveable Feast at Agliolio Italian Bistro, 2258 N Congress Ave, Boynton Beach. "A fresh take on Italian" - handmade pastas and mozzarella, all-natural meats and wild-caught seafood, as well as local produce. But also tempting desserts, including chocolate lasagna and zeppole. In a shopping plaza at Gateway and Congress, plenty of parking. RSVP by the night before on MeetUp or to Amy at 561-964-3283.

Saturday, Feb. 22 at 6:30pm: LongTimers' Celebration at the Atlantis Country Club (https://atlantiscountryclub.com/ ) in Lake Worth. LongTimers in both Palm Beach Area and Broward Mensa were individually invited to this event because of their long continuous membership status. Now that the deadline for their RSVPs has passed, we can open the event to ANY Mensa member (the venue has a limited capacity). For $60, the buffet dinner includes New York Roast Sirloin and Roast Turkey carving station, Chicken Francaise, broiled Mahi Mahi, various sides, three different desserts, and a champagne toast. Email Elissa Rudolph atelissa12@bellsouth.net .For those members who might opt to stay overnight instead of facing a long drive home, I have hotel/motel details that may help. Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 5:30pm: Happy Hour at Beg For More Izakaya, 19 SE 5th Ave, Delray Beach. A casual spot off E. Atlantic, this "izakaya" is like a tapas place or tavern, but with vibrant decor. RSVP by the night before on MeetUp or to Amy at 561-964-3283.
