Palm Beach Area Mensa Events

Wednesday, Apr. 4 at 6:30pm: Magnificent Mensa Scribes meets at Rainberry Bay Clubhouse, Lake Ida Road, Delray Beach. Enjoy the literary vibes of the Magnificent Mensa Scribes. Friday, Apr. 6 at 7pm: First Friday Dinner at Payathai Asian Bistro, 5879 South Congress Ave., Atlantis (Lantana, NW corner of Lantana Rd. and Congress Ave.). Obviously, this is a Thai restaurant. If you choose, the food can be spicy. Service is good and prices are reasonable. The place has limited space, so it's important that you RSVP to Barry at 561-964-4360, barrykaras7314@comcast.net, or through the Meetup.

[Palm Beach]

Monday, Apr. 9 at noon: Lunch Bunch at Ellie's 50'S Diner, 2410 North Federal Highway, Delray Beach.A throw-back 1950s-style diner, complete with a jukebox and wall art to complete the look. Good hamburgers and other comfort food, nothing fancy, but friendly wait-staff who keep the atmosphere lively. They have their own parking lot, with a vintage car to show that you've found the right place. RSVP: Amy Shaughnessy on MeetUp or 561-964-3283.

[Palm Beach]

Tuesday, Apr. 17 at 6pm: Movable Feast at Cool'A Fishbar, 11340 Legacy Avenue, Palm Beach Gardens. A casual, tropical seafood restaurant located in Legacy Place in Palm Beach Gardens, near I-95, off PGA Blvd. They specialize in fresh locally caught seafood, with conch fritters and salmon three ways, but also have non-fish fare - steak tips and chicken piccata. In addition, they have a Sunset Menu from 5:00 to 6:00 (so get there in time order before 6:00) and if you're early, maybe you can catch the Happy Hour, which starts at 5:00. Allow enough time to find your way through the Legacy Place parking lot. RSVP required: Amy Shaughnessy on MeetUp or 561-964-3283.

Thursday, Apr. 26 at 5:30pm: Happy Hour at Sweetwater Bar & Grill, 1507 South Federal Highway, Boynton Beach. A bar in Las Ventanas, where Woolbright Road meets Federal Hwy. It's a kind of funky place with oddly arranged tables, but they've recently opened a second place next door known as Saxon, which is supposed to be an "old-world style" cocktail bar. If we hang around long enough, Saxon may open (they started out only opening at 7:00), but Sweetwater is interesting enough on its own. There's ample parking behind the bars, which face Federal, but you may have to go around more than once to find your way in. RSVP: Amy Shaughnessy on MeetUp or 561-964-3283.

[Palm Beach]

Monday, Apr. 30 at 7pm: Fine Dining at Maison Carlos, 3010 South Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach. Modest-looking on the outside, fine dining at 11 tables on the inside. A bit on the price-y side, but there are specials from time to time, and the range of dishes has been described as "consistently good Continental cuisine". Parking on the street or beside the little strip of shops is usually available. (See Meetup.)
