Monday, July 3 at 2:00pm: Afternoon Movie at Stonzek Theatre, Lake Worth Playhouse, 713 Lake Avenue, Lake Worth. The Stonzek is a very small theater in downtown Lake Worth that shows offbeat indie and foreign films. On June 19, I wanted to see 'Wakefield,' about a man who drops out of his own life and spies on what's left of the life he led (starring Bryan Cranston). Unfortunately, the film's distributor pulled that week's show and rescheduled it for this week. I've chosen the Monday matinee showing because it's $7 rather than the usual $9 (always $6 for Film Society members), but you could catch it any day from 6/30 to 7/6 if it would suit you better. (See Meetup.) |

Wed-Sun, July 5-9: American Mensa Annual Gathering at Diplomat Beach Resort, 3555 South Ocean Drive, Hollywood, FL. The big national convention comes to south Florida; join thousands of Mensans in a big party. It's not too late to get in even if you didn't pre-register; member registration is $259 at the door for the entire event, or $99 for one day. See http://ag.us.mensa.org/ for details. |

Friday, July 7 at 7pm: First Friday Dinner at Payathai Asian Bistro, 5879 South Congress Ave., Atlantis (Lantana, NW corner of Lantana Rd. and Congress Ave.). Obviously, this is a Thai restaurant. If you choose, the food can be spicy. Service is good and prices are reasonable. The place has limited space, so it's important that you RSVP to Barry at 561-964-4360, barrykaras7314@comcast.net, or through the Meetup. |

Tuesday, July 11 at 5:30pm: Happy Hour at Boca Resto Lounge, 3360 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton . The feature for Tuesday is Karaoke Night, beginning at 7:00, but Happy hour precedes it - and you don't have to stay for the karaoke. It's an offbeat place, with indoor/outdoor bars and plenty of parking. RSVP: Amy Shaughnessy (rpwassn@yahoo.com or 561-964-3283) (See Meetup.) |

Sunday, July 16 at 5pm: MANGIAMO at LA FORCHETTA (North County) at La Forchetta Ristorante Italiano, 7820 Sw Lost River Rd, Stuart. This has been a perennial favorite in this area. 5 PM on Sunday is generally quieter than other times. I hope to see you there. (See Meetup.) |

Thursday, July 25 at noon: Lunch Bunch at Bistro Bistro, 506 Northwood Road, West Palm Beach. A quaint bakery café on Northwood Village's main drag, run by a husband (from Lyon) and wife (from Montreal) team. The lunch offerings include soup, quiche, country patés, and sandwiches. And then there the bakery items - pain chocolat, latticed pastries, etc. Parking on the street and in a couple of small lots. RSVP: Amy Shaughnessy (rpwassn@yahoo.com or 561-964-3283) (See Meetup.) |
