Friday, April 1 at 1pm: Counting the Ballots at Toojay's, Royal Poinciana Plaza, Palm Beach. March 31 is the deadline for ballots to be received, and they are to be counted on the first Friday after that - April 1 in this case. The Election Committee has to meet in a public place, so we chose TooJay's in Palm Beach as being convenient for other stuff to do in PB. It's not likely to be much of a cliff-hanger - no petition candidates - but if you want to be an observer, you're welcome to come and watch while we have lunch and do our appointed duty. You can have lunch, too, but you have to buy your own, as we do. Parking is easily available in Royal Poinciana Plaza, but allow time for traffic tie-ups at the bridges. (See Meetup) |

Friday, April 1 at 7pm: First Friday Dinner, at Payathai Asian Bistro, 5879 South Congress Ave., Atlantis (Lantana, NW corner of Lantana Rd. and Congress Ave.). New location. Same First Friday Meetup!! Thai food is different -- and can be spicy. Service is good and prices are reasonable. The place has limited space, so it's important that you RSVP to Barry at 561-964-4360, barrykaras7314@comcast.net, or through the Meetup. |

Sunday, April 10 at 4-6pm: Post-Election Gathering for Palm Beach Area Mensa -- The biennial election ballots will have been counted (see Events for April 1), so it's time to say "Thanks" to the 2014-16 ExComm and "Congratulations" to the incoming 2016-18 ExComm. Refreshments will be served, and we'll talk about programs and activities we'd like to plan for the next two years. Mike Yamrick will be our host at his home in suburban Boynton Beach. RSVPs are REQUIRED: fusingmike@gmail.com or (if you don't have email) by telephone to Amy Shaughnessy at 561-964-3283. For directions and/or coordination for contributing party food or drink, please email Mike at fusingmike@gmail.com (or as above, call Amy). (Also see Meetup.) |

Tuesday, April 12 at noon: Lunch Bunch at Souvlaki Fast, 305 E. Woolbright Road, Boynton Beach. Traditional Greek fast food updated - meat, seafood and fresh vegetables, marinated and skewered - on a traditional pita, on a platter with french fries or rice, or on a salad. And the special for Tuesday (as for Friday) is a $5 gyro, if that's your choice. It's in a shopping center on the southeast corner of Woolbright and Federal Highway, just west of the bridge. (RSVP Amy, aesdth@yahoo.com or see Meetup.) |

Tuesday April 16, 10am Testing Session for prospective members at PC Professor, West Palm Beach. To be held every other month on the 3rd Saturday; future dates June 18, August 20, and October 15 (skipping December and resuming February). October is Mensa Testing Month. Contact Mike Yamrick, testing@palmbeach.us.mensa.org. |

Sunday, April 17 at 5pm: North County Dinner: Let’s Try Happy Hour at Another Island Restaurant, The Magic Oyster Bar and Seafood Grill, 10999 S. Ocean Drive 34957, Jensen Beach. It's a small place but I can bring a owl statue. This month we're back on Hutchinson Island. But this place is easier to find; just a tad north of Jensen Beach Causeway. It's also beachy and casual. What looks outstanding is the extensive seafood menu and Happy Hour is 3 to 6 PM. By arriving 5 PM on a Sunday, we should avoid the noisy crowd.http://themagicoyster.com/main-dinner-menu/ (See Meetup.) |

|
Thursday, April 19 at 5:45pm: Movable Feast at Angry Moon Cafe and Wine Bar, 2401 PGA Blvd, Palm Beach Gardens. The motto is "relax, indulge, connect" and they offer both whimsically named entrees and such small plates as Latvian salad, pate, Nordic seas flatbread, and escargots. The enticing - if pricey - desserts include several kinds of crepes. The address eludes me, so check your favorite map source and arrive early enough to drive round and round in the mall parking lot. (RSVP Amy, aesdth@yahoo.com or see Meetup.) |
