Palm Beach Area Mensa Events

Friday, April 1, 7:00 pm. The Palm Beach Mensa Monthly Meetup at Rosalita's Tex-Mex Grill, 5040 South Congress, Atlantis, FL. We've been going to Tex-Mex restaurant for the past few months. The food and the service has drawn raves. The food is classic Tex-Mex. You can get it mild or spicy. They have everything from traditional Tex-Mex fare to salmon and crabcakes. The service was fast and pleasant. We had one member who arrived half an hour late, but who was served just two minutes are the rest of us! We have no idea how they did that. We'd like to have you join us this month! We discuss politics, travel, the theater, investment philosophies and the comparative merits of boxers versus briefs, all the while enjoying some tasty food. NOTE: Because the restaurant is busy, we require RSVPs. You must RSVP by Noon on the Thursday before the event. If you're bringing guests, include the number of guests in your RSVP. If you decide to come after the cutoff time, call Barry Karas at 561-964-4360 and he will try to work you in. If you show up without an RSVP, you may find yourself sitting away from the rest of the group.

Tuesday, April 12, 6:30 pm: Magnificent Mensa Scribes. The Magnificent Mensa Scribes meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays each month at 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. at the Lock, Stock and Barrel Restaurant, 3208 Forest Hill Blvd (Palm Springs)...south side of Forest Hill Blvd. Prudy Taylor Board trenchantly discusses some practical phase of the writing business plus works-in-progress -- your works-in-progress will be read aloud and critiqued. Take I-95 Exit 66 (Forest Hill Blvd.) west 1.8 miles, crossing Congress Ave. From the west, take State Road 882 (Forest Hill Blvd) east across Military Trail, through the traffic lights at Kirk Road and Tucker Road. LSB is on the right, before reaching Congress Ave. To schedule your own literary reading at an MMS email Mensan Tim Hunter (timhunter@juno.com)

Saturday, April 16, 6:30 pm: South County Dinner -- Dean Anthony's Italian Restaurant in Boynton Beach. The restaurant is located in the shopping center at the southwest corner of Congress Ave. & Old Boynton Rd. - where the Barnes & Noble is (it's at the other end of the building). Dean Anthony's makes great pizza and pasta; it's a family-owned restaurant where you can see the owner, Dean Polimeni, there on most nights making sure things are right. It's strictly casual - what you'd think of as a pizza & spa-ghetti joint. We're going to limit the RSVPs to 15 people, this month; it's a great restaurant, but it's not huge. So, RSVP early at MeetUp!

Tuesday, April 19, 5:30 pm: Night Out for Mensa Cougars and Others. Off the Hookah, 314 Clematis, WPB. In addition to 38 flavors for smoking the hookah, there are many Moroccan and Egyptian specialties (home-made falafel and hummus), belly dancers, and a great Happy Hour until 7:00. Some street parking or use one of the nearby municipal garages. RSVP to Amy Shaughnessy at 964-3283 or on MeetUp.

Friday, April 22, 7:00 pm (arrive by 6:45 to catch Happy Hour): Moveable Feast at Howley's, 4700 S. Dixie Hwy, WPB. Classic old (for South Florida) established family-style restaurant -- their motto: "Cooked in sight, must be right"). Group seating is limited, so RSVPs are a must!
