Friday, August 6, 7:00 pm. First Friday Dinner at The King & I Thai Restaurant, 6659 Lake Worth Road, Lake Worth, 561-964-9994. The Thai food is great. The people are even better. Thirteen members attended last month, which was great considering half a dozen regulars were at the Dearborn AG. We've had as many as thirty. It is a great opportunity for new members to plug in. The restaurant is a great venue. We'd like to have you join us! We discuss politics, travel, the theater, investment philosophies and the comparative merits of boxers versus briefs, all the while enjoying some tasty food.

Sunday, August 15, 5 pm. North County Dinner -- We'll be traveling west of town this month to Park Ave BBQ Grille in St Lucie West. Address is 220 NW Peacock Blvd., Port St Lucie, FL, 772.344.7427. This is good news to those who are tired of US 1. It is just off of I 95, exit 121 which will be easier for many folks from the Palm Beach area who may want to join us. From Exit 121 turn right on St Lucie W Blvd, go 0.2 miles, then left on Peacock Blvd. Look to your left. The logo of the restaurant says PA BBQ. Saturday, August 07, 10AM. Mensa Outdoor - Rapids Water Park, 6566 North Military Trail, West Palm Beach. The only full-scale water park in this part of Florida. The "rides" are terrific and full of fun. Rapids Water Park is located 1 mile west of I-95 on Military in West Palm Beach. They have a wave pool, tubing on a lazy river, and 30+ ""rides"". Bring Sunscreen, Lunch, Swim Suit, camera (preferably water proof). If any-one wants to car pool, we're leaving from Bass Pro/Outdoor World at 9:15 AM. Park opens at 10:00 A.M. Parking is $10.00 per car. A small locker is $8.00; and large locker is $12.00 plus a refundable $2.00 deposit of $2.00. I’ll have our cell phone after 8:30 A.M., 954-558-7829. Saturday, August 14 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Mensa Outdoor - Bon Festival at Morikami Gardens. Inspired by the Japanese Obon traditional three-day holi-day honoring ancestors. High-lights include Fushi Dauko drummers, traditional Japanese folk dancing with audience participation, ghost stories, and street fair with games and sho stalls. In the evening, the Morikami Pond is transformed in a sea of lighted lanterns to guide the departure of ancestors' souls who came for a brief visit, and is capped by a fireworks display. We will have dinner while we are there. Cost is $12.00 in advance, and $15.00 at the gate. I recom-mend you send your check, payable to Morikami Gardens, to me when you RSVP, and I will handle the reservations. The Morikami is on Jog Road near Linton Boulevard.
