Palm Beach County Mensa Calendar of Events

Mensa events are open to all Mensans, their spouses, children and guests. Who may or may not attend a private home is at the host's discretion. Hosts: Please mention any special concerns about your location, such as smoking restrictions, limited access for the handicapped, or presence of pets. Guests: If you have any special needs or restrictions, please check with your host before attending an event.

Notice! Our group has merged its calendar with the one from the Broward group and some events from Miami. The icon in the rightmost column of the event indicates what group(s) are hosting that activity (B for Broward, M for Miami, P for Palm Beach County). See the legends at the bottom of this page for an explanation of other icons that may appear in this column. Most phone numbers for Broward events will be area code 954, for Miami, 305.

	Saturday-Sunday, April 1-2. BILLIE SWAMP SAFARI AT THE SEMINOLE / MICCOSUKEE RESERVATION - North of Mile Marker 50 on I-75 (Alligator Alley). Your choice - sleep in multi-person barracks or more private tiki huts. Do the Swamp Buggy, the Air Boat, or both. A different, unique experience. No room service, folks. 	Saturday, April 8, 7:00 pm. MENSA PARTY WITH THE OAK FOLK - What a wonderful mixture. The outdoors with an intellectual cast. We had a barbecue night last month - if it worked out, we'll do it again. 	Saturday, April 15, 6:30 pm. ESCAPE TAX DAY - Come to the Full Moon Paddle on the lake at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach. We start at about 6:30, paddle until the moon comes up, then tie up together in the middle of the lake for a gourmet dinner, served in our boats, under the full moon, with candlelight and all the other requirements. We're back by 10:00 P.M. Cost $30.00 per person includes canoe rental, dinner, and all accessories. Contact Jordan London, 954-961-8286.

	Saturday-Sunday, April 29-30. CANOE/CAMP AT FISH-EATING CREEK - in Palmdale on U.S. 27 about a half hour north of Clewiston, about 2 hours out of Fort Lauderdale. We meet at 8:30 AM Saturday morning, canoe out to a remote camp site, set up camp, hang out, perhaps a short hike, and have a group dinner Saturday night. Everyone is responsible for their own breakfasts and lunches, dishes, flatware, cups, water. This has always been one of our favorite camping experiences. Cost per member, $45.00 for canoe, $54.00 for kayak (very few kayaks available, and not preferred for this outing, since everything gets carted by canoe to our camp site). We have tents, mattresses, sleeping bags you can borrow, and we will supply all the stoves, lights, shovels, and other supplies. For non-Members, add $5.00 per person.
