Saturday, December 17. VOLUNTEER, SECRET WOODS PARK IN FORT LAUDERDALE The OAK club contributes to society by volunteering once a month at the Secret Woods Park to keep the trails clear, remove exotic vegetation, plant new trees, and generally just assist the park in maintaining itself. Mensa is invited to participate. The park is on SR84 about a mile west of I-95. According to a recent statistic, there were over 500,000 hours of volunteer time provided to the various parks in Florida. The "Klub" works about 3 hours and then breaks and has lunch across the street at a hamburger-type place. Contact Jordan London, 954-961-8286. |

Sunday, December 18. KAYAK TO GREYNOLDS PARK in North Dade. We leave from the put-in point at Oleta River State Park and paddle up to the park, where we have a vehicle parked with complete BBQ makings. We'll have a barbecue lunch, pack and clean up, take our kayaks around a little, and come back to our starting place. A delightful cool weather observation.
