November, 2005

Mensa events are open to all Mensans, their spouses, children and guests. Who may or may not attend a private home is at the host's discretion. Hosts: Please mention any special concerns about your location, such as smoking restrictions, limited access for the handicapped, or presence of pets. Guests: If you have any special needs or restrictions, please check with your host before attending an event.

Sunday, November 6. BICYCLE SHARK VALLEY IN THE EVERGLADES. A 15-mile U-shaped National Park, with a 65-foot high Observation Tower overlooking much of the southern Everglades. About 18 miles west of the Miccosukee gaming establishment at Krome Avenue and Tamiami Trail, or about 28 miles west of the Turnpike and Tamiami Trail, it's always a delightful bicycle ride. We get off at the half-way point, take a break, look at the alligators lining the trail, and finish the ride. There are a couple of nature trials you can also take. Afterward, lunch, probably at the BBQ Pit about a mile east of Krome Avenue or at the Miccosukee (steak and lobster tail, $7.00). It's $10.00 for a car to get into the park, so we park outside and ride the bikes in. That costs us $1.00 each (unless you have the old folks' pass for national parks). Contact Jordan London, 954-961-8286, for further details. Change of venue!
