Mensa events are open to all Mensans, their spouses, children and guests. Who may or may not attend a private home is at the host's discretion. Hosts: Please mention any special concerns about your location, such as smoking restrictions, limited access for the handicapped, or presence of pets. Guests: If you have any special needs or restrictions, please check with your host before attending an event.

Notice! Our group has merged its calendar with the one from the Broward group and some events from Miami. The icon in the rightmost column of the event indicates what group(s) are hosting that activity (B for Broward, M for Miami, P for Palm Beach County). See the legends at the bottom of this page for an explanation of other icons that may appear in this column. Most phone numbers for Broward events will be area code 954, for Miami, 305.

[Outdoor Adventures Klub (OAK)]

Saturday, October 1. KAYAK AT THE LOXAHATCHEE PRESERVE GRASSY WATER WETLANDS IN DELRAY. We start at Indiantown Road, paddle the upper hairpin-turns river to Trapper John's, where we will provide a delicious picnic lunch. From there, we make a decision whether to paddle to the take-out point in Jonathan Dickinson Park and be bused to our vehicles, or go back the way we came, and land at the Outfitter where we started out. A great paddle either way. Cost includes kayaks, accessories, lunch: $45.00 members, $50.00 non-members. Leader Jordan London, 954-961-8286.

Games if you want them, talk is cheap and plentiful, the patio is just perfect for being outdoors under cover, the people are great, and the food (Bring A Dish) is super. $3.00 contribution per person, members and non-members. Tuesday, October 11, 5:30 pm. ELECTRONIC TRIVIA NORTH meets, as always, at Rickey's, 4645 Hollywood Blvd. Exit I-95 at Hollywood Blvd. and go west to 48th Ave. Park in back. We meet at 5:30 p.m. since there are some good games early, but if you can't make it early, come when you can. Pretty good food, very good trivia. Smoking where permitted.

Sunday, October 16, 11:00 am. SUNDAY BRUNCH at La Piazza Pasta Cafe. It's a new location...a five star all you can eat buffet, featuring a cold station with salads, shrimp, eggs and more; a hot station with pastas, eggs benedict and quiches; a carving station with prime rib, salmon and chicken fingers; crepes and omelets, breads and desserts. The price of $14.95 includes orange juice, coffee, tea, Mimosas or Bloody Mary. This is sure to become a favorite with a menu like this. Saturday, October 22. BICYCLE THE BEAR ISLAND UNIT OF BIG CYPRESS PRESERVE. This is at MM (mile marker) 79.5 on I-75 (Alligator Alley). This is a delightful ride, sometimes a little wet if it's rained recently, but always a delight. We see some alligators, perhaps wild turkey, deer, bobcat; do a little exploring. We'll meet about 9:00 AM at the entrance. Afterward, a BYO picnic lunch at the rest stop at MM 64. Nominal charge, $5.00 per person, member or non-member. Kids over 10 welcome - if under 10, they have to be able to keep up. You can call and discuss with Jordan London, 954-961-8286.

Saturday, October 29, 10 am. YOUNG MENSANS: Attention All Young Mensans, Mensa siblings and off-spring and all Young-at-Heart Mensans. We are planning a fun-filled day at the Museum of Science and Discovery. Reserve your calendar for Saturday, October 29, 2005. We will meet at the front entrance at 10 AM, view the exhibits, take in an IMAX movie and catch a bite to eat at the Subway sandwich shop on the premises. RSVP to Micki Hawn at 954-345-1688. We can get a discount if we have a group of 15 or more. (Parking is extra.) The museum is located in the Arts & Science District, across from Riverwalk's Esplanade Park and the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Take I-95 north (from Miami) or south (from Palm Beach) to Broward Boulevard. Drive east to SW Fifth Avenue (Commodore Brook Avenue). Turn right. The museum will be on the left and science garage on your right.
