Palm Beach County Mensa Calendar of Events
September, 2005

Mensa events are open to all Mensans, their spouses, children and guests. Who may or may not attend a private home is at the host's discretion. Hosts: Please mention any special concerns about your location, such as smoking restrictions, limited access for the handicapped, or presence of pets. Guests: If you have any special needs or restrictions, please check with your host before attending an event.

Notice! Our group has merged its calendar with the one from the Broward group and some events from Miami. The icon in the rightmost column of the event indicates what group(s) are hosting that activity (B for Broward, M for Miami, P for Palm Beach County). See the legends at the bottom of this page for an explanation of other icons that may appear in this column. Most phone numbers for Broward events will be area code 954, for Miami, 305.

Sunday, September 18. SNORKEL BISCAYNE NATIONAL UNDERWATER PARK We take their boat out about 8 miles where there are reefs only 6 feet under water. Gorgeous fish, reefs, conger eels, and a totally wonderful time. You can stay in the water for up to 2 hours if you wish. Lunch afterward in nearby Florida City. Always a super time. Saturday, September 24. EXPLORE CAPTIVA/SANIBEL ISLANDS by bicycle. We will car-a-van there with our bicycles and ride around the areas. Almost all the damage done by the hurricanes in 2004 has been repaired, and the islands restored. We'll have lunch at a local restaurant while there. Car pooling will be encouraged and facilitated. Saturday, October 1. KAYAK AT THE LOXAHATCHEE PRESERVE GRASSY WATER WETLANDS IN DELRAY. We start at Indiantown Road, paddle the upper hairpin-turns river to Trapper John's, where we will provide a delicious picnic lunch. From there, we make a decision whether to paddle to the take-out point in Jonathan Dickinson Park and be bused to our vehicles, or go back the way we came, and land at the Outfitter where we started out. A great paddle either way. Cost includes kayaks, accessories, lunch: $45.00 members, $50.00 non-members. Leader Jordan London, 954-961-8286.
