Palm Beach County Mensa Calendar of Events

Mensa events are open to all Mensans, their spouses, children and guests. Who may or may not attend a private home is at the host's discretion. Hosts: Please mention any special concerns about your location, such as smoking restrictions, limited access for the handicapped, or presence of pets. Guests: If you have any special needs or restrictions, please check with your host before attending an event.

Notice! Our group has merged its calendar with the one from the Broward group and some events from Miami. The icon in the rightmost column of the event indicates what group(s) are hosting that activity (B for Broward, M for Miami, P for Palm Beach County). See the legends at the bottom of this page for an explanation of other icons that may appear in this column. Most phone numbers for Broward events will be area code 954, for Miami, 305.

	Sunday, February 8. Ranger-Guided Walk In The Big Cypress Preserve. Bring a picnic lunch, insect repellent, camera, and a change of clothes. Not suitable for small children. You must be able to walk a mile or two through muck and mud, possibly water up to your knees. This is the real Everglades, not tourist stuff. We'll arrange various carpool sites, detour afterwards to Clyde Butcher's Gallery, and finish with dinner at a local eatery. (Do they really have $6.95 steak & lobster at the casino??) 	Tuesday, February 10. ELECTRONIC TRIVIA NORTH meets, as always, at Rickey's, 4645 Hollywood Blvd. Exit I-95 at Hollywood Blvd. and go west to 48th Ave. Park in back. We meet at 5:30 p.m. since there are some good games early, but if you can't make it early, come when you can. Pretty good food, very good trivia. Smoking where permitted.

	Saturday, February 21. Canoe Trip In The Everglades. This a service of the U.S. Parks Department that we have been trying to connect with for a couple of years. A Parks Dept. Ranger will lead us in a canoe trip (you can bring your own canoe or kayak) through part of the Everglades (their choice of location and duration). 	Saturday, February 21: COVERED DISH DINNER. We cannot tell a lie! George Washington's birthday is tomorrow and we'll celebrate at 8:00 PM with our usual covered dish dinner at Joe & Carol Lee Vitale's, 3840 NW Third Terrace, Pompano Beach. RSVP to 954-781-7659.

	Sunday, February 29: SUNDAY BRUNCH. Blue Moon Fish Company, 11:30 AM. Bring your appetites for a real brunch bargain. It starts with complementary valet parking and a free Mimosa or Bloody Mary. Of course there is an all you can eat seafood bar with shrimp and mussels, a fresh fruit bar and a made to order omelet station. Then the very personable staff will take your order for one or more entrees from the kitchen. These include Seafood Gumbo, Crab Cake, Mahi Mahi, Pork chops, Applewood Bacon wrapped stuffed chicken and more. Then as many deserts as you want also served by the men in black such as Créme Brule, Strawberry Shortcake and Chocolate Lava Cake. The presentation is beautiful and the food is divine and all for $24.95. Blue Moon Fish Company is on the north side of Commercial just east of the Intracoastal at 4405 West Tradewinds Avenue.
