Palm Beach County Mensa Calendar of Events - May, 2001
Mensa events are open to all Mensans, their spouses, children and guests. Who may or may not attend a private home is at the host's discussion. Hosts: Please mention any special concerns about your location, such as smoking restrictions, limited access for the handicapped, or presence of pets. Guests: If you have any special needs or restrictions, please check with your host before attending an event.
Notice! Our group has merged its calendar with the one from the Broward group and some events from Miami. The icon in the rightmost column of the event indicate what group(s) are hosting that activity (B for Broward, M for Miami, P for Palm Beach County). See the legends at the bottom of this page for an explanation of other icons that appear in this column. Most phone numbers for Broward events will be area code 954, for Miami, 305.

First Friday at Chesterfields, 530 S Federal Highway, Delray Beach. Friday, May 4, 7 PM. Optional cocktails at the bar at 6:30. Celebrate the first Friday of the month at Chesterfields (soon to be Britannia) in Delray Beach. We'll grab tables for dinner with some of your old Mensa buddies and even some new ones. Shepherds Pie at $10 to Surf & Turf for $23 and limited English beer in unlimited quantities. Be prepared for 25% for tax and tip, no plastic, cash only or you will flogged with a banger (or banged with a flogger). Good food and Mensa camaraderie too! Saturday, May 5, 4PM, Delray Beach--Get Palm Beach County Mensa back on track!! Come to a planning meeting on Saturday with our Regional Vice Chairman, Karen Lary from Orlando, and your local officers. We will be discussing ways to stimulate our programs, answer your questions, and get more members involved in the management of the chapter. Even if you just want to observe, come to this meeting! Sunday, May 13th. MOTHER'S DAY "CONSOLATION" PADDLE Come paddle with us! You can bring Mom... or Mom can bring the kids... or you can come without your mom... or you can come without your kids... or maybe Dad wants to take the kids and give Mom a rest... or maybe you're tired of paddling the kids... just come for the fun of it! You can rent a canoe or a kayak. Location will probably be Westlake Park lake on Sheridan Street in Hollywood. We can have a picnic lunch afterwards if the group wants one. Friday, May 18th, 7:30 PM. Our next Mensadventure of a dining nature will be at The Annex (561-243-2816) in Pineapple Grove, Friday, May 18, 7:30PM. A couple blocks off Atlantic Avenue, this area of Delray Beach has undergone a total renovation. On their menu is Roast Prime Rib, slow roasted in a special oven, Seafood Antonia, Maryland Crabcakes, Sole Almondine, Chicken Marsala, Weiner Schnitzel, and Roast Duckling. Mouth watering yet??
