Thursday, October 12th - Columbus Day. Commemorating the day that Christopher Columbus first landed in the New World in 1492. It is believed that the first such celebration occurred in 1792 by Columbian order, the Society of St. Tammany, more commonly known as Tammany Hall.

Saturday, October 14th, 9 AM. Weekend Perkophiles at Einstein Brothers bagels, 4352 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33411. Come on out and we'll have coffee and breakfast and talk about whatever subjects come to the fore. This is one of most popular restaurants in West Palm. They offer the common steak house sort of fare, where the food is cooked right at the table, plus sushi, tempura and other favorites. Come on out and enjoy traditional Japanese food and saki with us! Sagami's can seat up to 19 persons at one table, but if I don't get enough respondents, we'll sit at a smaller one. Tuesday, October 31st - Halloween or Eve of All Saints' Day. This is the modern continuation of an ancient Celtic celebration known as All Hallows' Eve or Hallowmass which marked the beginning of the winter season. The old tradition is associated with masquerades, bonfires and ghost stories.
