Palm Beach County Mensa Calendar of Events - October, 2000

all Mensans, their spouses, children and guests. Who may or may not
attend a private home is at the host's discussion. Hosts: Please
mention any special concerns about your location, such as smoking
restrictions, limited access for the handicapped, or presence of pets.
Guests: If you have any special needs or restrictions, please check

Friday,
October 6th, 7 P.M. First Friday at Chesterfields, 530 S Federal
Highway, Delray Beach. Celebrate the first Friday of the month at
Chesterfields in Delray Beach. We've reserved the Tea Room for an
intimate dinner and catch up on the latest Mensa rumors. Shepherds Pie
at $10 to Surf & Turf for $23 and limited English beer in unlimited
quantities. Be prepared for 25% for tax and tip, no plastic, cash only
or you will be washing dishes. Good food and Mensa camaraderie too!

MURDER
MYSTERY GAME PARTY - Saturday, October 7th at 7 PM at the home of
former LocSec Lynn Hufnagel O'Dwyer. Pizza, soft drinks and yummy
desserts will be served (bring your own beer or wine). GAME IS LIMITED
TO 8 PLAYERS- RSVP ASAP to Lynn at 561-394-6999. $5.00. Small dog and
bird in residence. No smoking. Adults only (this is not a children's
game). I live at 1174 NW 13th St., #132B, Boca Raton. From I-95 or the
Turnpike: Exit at Glades Road. Go East to NW 10th Ave. (opposite the
first entrance to FAU), turn right onto tenth, follow around the bend,
it turns into NW 12th Ave. The development, Boca Linda West is on the
left, just past the first traffic light (NW 13th St. ) Go past the
development and make a turn around back into it. Once inside, turn left
and my condo will be on the right, after the first fence. |

Monday, October 9th - The U.S. Federal celebration of Columbus Day. |

October 12th - Columbus Day. Commemorating the day that Christopher
Columbus first landed in the New World in 1492. It is believed that the
first such celebration occurred in 1792 by Columbian order, the Society
of St. Tammany, more commonly known as Tammany Hall. |

October 14th, 9 AM. Weekend Perkophiles at Einstein Brothers bagels,
4352 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, FL 33411. Come on out and we'll
have coffee and breakfast and talk about whatever subjects come to the
fore. I'll be there wearing a gray knit shirt with the Mensa logo and
the legend Mensa Local Officer embroidered on it. The store is located
at Okeechobee Blvd and Military Trail in West Palm Beach in the newly
remodeled Cross County shopping center near the Radio Shack and the

October 21st, 7:30PM, Mensadventure at Masa's Sagami Japanese
Restaurant. Sagami is located at 871 Village Blvd in West Palm Beach,
their phone number is 683.4600. This is one of most popular restaurants
in West Palm. They offer the common steak house sort of fare, where the
food is cooked right at the table, plus sushi, tempura and other
favorites. Come on out and enjoy traditional Japanese food and saki
with us! Sagami's can seat up to 19 persons at one table, but if I
don't get enough respondents, we'll sit at a smaller one. RSVP

Tuesday, October 31st - Halloween
or Eve of All Saints' Day. This is the modern continuation of an
ancient Celtic celebration known as All Hallows' Eve or Hallowmass
which marked the beginning of the winter season. The old tradition is
associated with masquerades, bonfires and ghost stories. |
